A viral video claims that Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi said the government prevented the Navy from engaging in a clash with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, which led to heavy losses for the Indian Air Force.
The video is AI-manipulated. Admiral Tripathi never made such a statement.
A video circulating online shows Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi allegedly stating that the government restrained the Navy, forcing the Air Force to suffer losses in the recent conflict with Pakistan.
In the video, he is purportedly heard saying, “…a few days ago, you told the Indian Navy on the deck of Vikrant that Operation Sindoor is not over yet. And if the need arises the next time, it is possible that the opening will be by our Navy. We wanted the government to allow us to fight, but the government did not allow us to fight at all. And this is the reason why the Indian Air Force had to suffer losses.”

A keyword search for “Indian Navy Chief” and “Air Force loss” did not yield any credible media reports or official statements supporting this claim.
The background in the viral clip matches footage from the INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri commissioning ceremony in Visakhapatnam (Aug 26, 2025). In the original speech, Admiral Tripathi actually said (timestamp ~1:52:30):
“…Sir, a few days ago, you told the Indian Navy on the deck of Vikrant that Operation Sindoor is not over yet. And if the need arises the next time, it is possible that the opening will be by our Navy. Today, I wish to say that modern and state-of-the-art platforms like Udaygiri and Himgiri make us even more capable of delivering an opening knock out punch to the enemy…”
This segment does not include any statement about government restrictions or Air Force losses.
The Print’s report on the same event (timestamp ~4:13) also shows no such remarks.
