Video Claiming To Show A Hindu Priest Riding A Crocodile Is AI-Generated

Claim

A crocodile carries a Hindu priest to the temple in an example of the “power of Sanatan Dharma”.

The archived version of the post can be seen here, which has clocked 152.5K views so far.

Fact

Newschecker noticed the overly glossy texture of the video, raising our doubts on whether it was digitally created.

We then ran it past Cantilux, an AI-video detection tool, which found it 70% likely to be AI, raising our doubts.

Newschecker ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to a clearer version of the video uploaded on Youtube by a channel called @darkfilesAI on June 9, 2025. Their TikToK channel can be seen here, which also features several such surreal videos, indicating that they are all AI-generated, going by the channel’s name.

We then ran the video past Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection tool, which found it 88.9% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content. Newschecker also ran the video past Deepfake-O-Meter of the UB Media Forensics Lab, where most of the detectors (5 out of 8) concluded a high probability of the video being AI-generated.
