Viral audio clip where Piers Morgan allegedly says the West cannot defeat India.
No such statement by Morgan, audio found to be synthetic content.
A video featuring a purported audio of prominent British journalist Piers Morgan saying that the West cannot defeat India militarily, culturally, ideologically, or economically, has gone viral across social media platforms. “India’s strength lies not just in its economy, military, or diplomacy. It lies in something far deeper, its civilizational identity. Unlike many modern nations that were born from revolutions, border shifts, or colonial arrangements, India is a continuous civilization,” he allegedly says.
Multiple Facebook and X users are sharing the 06:20-minute video, saying that the “world must listen to him.”

A keyword search for “Piers Morgan” and “West Can’t Defeat India” on Google did not yield any credible reports on the alleged statement by the journalist. We skimmed through the recent posts on the social media handles affiliated to Morgan (seen here, here and here), but did not find him making the viral remarks.
We then ran multiple segments of the viral audio past Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector, which concluded them to be “likely deepfake.” Another AI audio-detection website Resemble AI, too, termed the voice as “fake.”
Following this, we conducted a Google Lens search on the image featured in the clip and were directed to a YouTube channel called “Pathway to Light” (@PathwaytoLight-z7l). One post uploaded on the channel on July 3, 2025, featured the longer version of the viral footage carrying the alleged remarks by Morgan.
The video was labelled as “altered or synthetic content” (sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated) in its description, which confirmed that it did not feature an actual audio of Morgan. Notably, YouTube requires creators to “disclose content that is meaningfully altered or synthetically generated when it seems realistic” such as “making a real person appear to say or do something that they didn’t say or do.”
The channel, which described itself as a “Journey of Faith, Wisdom, and Inspiration”, featured multiple such “altered or synthetic content” showing comments falsely attributed to Morgan on multiple issues.

We noticed that multiple channels on YouTube were using “altered or synthetic content” labels and posting fake audios of world-renowned people, such as Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, Chinese businessman Jack Ma, American author Mel Robbins, among others, hailing India.
A video, posted on YouTube channel “Build To Rise” (@BuildToRisee), titled “Why India is the one country the West can’t defeat| Jack Ma…,” featured a fake audio of the businessmen making pro-India comments.
Similarly, a video shared on YouTube channel “Robbins Inspiration“(@motivation-i4b3p), “inspired by the bold energy” of Robbins, titled, ‘Why India is the one country West can’t defeat | Robbins…,’ too, used a fake audio of the American author.
Another such fake audio attributed to American television personality Oprah Winfrey, explaining why “West can’t defeat India,” was uploaded on YouTube by “OPRAH WINFREY MOTIVATION” (@OPRAHWINFREYMOTIVATION-b6s).
We checked multiple audio segments from the above-mentioned videos on Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector, which found them to be “likely deepfake.” Resemble AI, too, concluded (seen here, here and here) that the voices were “fake.”
Newschecker recently debunked similar AI-generated audios of Elon Musk about India’s rise as a global technology, space, and diplomatic centre.
