We conducted a reverse image search on the viral video which took us to a Twitter post by handle @MyLordBebo on X on November 30, 2024.
In the video, Trump can be clearly heard saying, “Taliban is here. ISIS is here. Both are our enemies. They’re fighting each other. I said. Why don’t you let them fight? Why are we getting in the middle.”
Using this as a clue, we conducted a keyword search and found that the statement was made by Trump on the fight between Taliban and ISIS.
We found a longer version of the video in a report published by Voice of America on their official YouTube handle dated January 3, 2019. As per the report, Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with US Generals in Afghanistan for not defeating the Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan after 19 years of involvement.
“I brought up with our generals four or five weeks ago where “Taliban is here, Isis is here and they’re fighting each other. I said why don’t you let them fight why are we getting in the middle of it I said Let Them Fight they’re both our enemies Let Them Fight sir. We want to do it they go in and end up fighting both of them. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” Trump is heard saying in the video.
