Fact Check
CCTV footage claiming to show Tamil actor Rajinikanth slipping and falling at his Chennai residence after picking up his newspaper in the morning.
The archived version of the Instagram post can be seen here, which has clocked over 80K likes.
We ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to this Facebook reel by prominent Kannada journalist and writer Rajaram Tallur, dated July 24, 2025.
“As usual, I went to bring a bundle of newspapers that came to my inbox this morning….. Leg slipped… no injuries. Feeling healthy and happy…. No videographer for this video. That’s a small piece captured on the security camera of the home,” read the Kannada post. Tallur also called out the fake news, sharing a post on Facebook on July 31, 2025, clarifying that it was him in the viral video.
We also came across multiple media reports, seen here and here, debunking the viral video and stating that Rajinikanth is perfectly fine and healthy. “An official statement has come from the team stating that the confusion caused because the person’s face in the video was not clearly visible, and that Rajinikanth is currently fine,” read a Times of India report, dated July 30, 2025.
