The viral video is digitally altered. The original clip from July 2023 shows no such remark.
A short video is circulating on social media claiming that a child accused PM Modi of “vote chori” (vote theft) during an interaction. The clip appears to show the Prime Minister asking children if they know what he does, followed by a child’s alleged response of “vote chori.”

A Google keyword search for “PM Modi children Vote Chori” yielded no credible news reports supporting the claim.
A reverse image search of the viral video’s keyframes led us to the official YouTube channel of PM Narendra Modi. The full version, uploaded on July 29, 2023, showed the same event without the “vote chori” remark.
In the authentic footage, after PM Modi asked the children what they saw on TV, one of them hugged him. The viral clip’s audio was digitally edited to insert the “vote chori” comment.

The video was recorded during the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event featured Modi viewing exhibitions, interacting with children, and encouraging them in their creative work.
Several media organisations also shared the unedited version of Modi’s interaction with children, confirming that the viral video was tampered with.
Congress leader and LoP Rahul Gandhi brought up the issue of “vote chori” with alleged evidence only on August 7, 2025. Since the original footage is from July 2023, it clearly predates these political discussions, confirming the clip was repurposed to fit a recent narrative.

The viral claim is false. An old clip of PM Modi’s interaction with children has been digitally manipulated with fake audio to make it appear as if a child accused him of “vote chori”

No. The phrase was added through audio manipulation. The original clip shows a child hugging PM Modi, not making any such remark.
2. Where is the original video from?
The authentic video was posted on PM Modi’s official YouTube channel on July 29, 2023, during the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam in New Delhi.
3. Why is the fake video going viral now?
It resurfaced in September 2025, after political discussions around ‘vote chori’ gained traction, making the edited video appear timely.
4. What was PM Modi actually doing in the original video?
He was visiting an exhibition at Bharat Mandapam, interacting with children, and sharing a lighthearted moment when a child hugged him.
5. Why is it important to verify such clips?
Edited political videos can mislead voters, fuel misinformation, and distort public perception. Verification ensures people don’t form opinions based on manipulated content.
