Videos show Indian National flags in the rallies across Balochistan.
Videos from Surat and Srinagar shared in false context.
Amid intensifying calls for independence of Balochistan, videos allegedly showing Indian national flags being waved in pro-liberation rallies across the region, have gone viral on social media platforms. Newschecker investigated two such clips and found them to be unrelated to the Baloch liberation movement.
One of the two videos shows a large procession marching down a major intersection, with a band playing the song ‘Saare Jahan Se Achcha Hindustan Humara’, even as many wave Indian tricolours, is being widely shared on social media with captions like “Baloochi Lebaration (Liberation),” suggesting that it showed support for India at a pro-liberation march in Balochistan.
Newschecker received the video on our WhatsApp tipline (+9-9999499044) requesting to be fact checked.
On carefully analysing the viral clip, we noticed the banners of “Tiranga Yatra,” and “Operation Sindoor” in multiple frames. We also spotted “Saifee Scout Surat” branded on the instruments of the band.
A Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip led us to a post featured in the Instagram account of Saifee Scout Surat (@saifeescoutsurat) on May 19, 2025. Carrying the same footage, it stated, “The Tiranga Yatra in Surat was exciting, and the Surat Dawoodi Bohra Band made it even better with their music…”
The profile also shared multiple visuals showing the band’s performance during the Tiranga Yatra in Surat, such as this and this.
We then looked up keywords “Tiranga Yatra,” and “Surat” on Google which yielded a YouTube post by VTV Gujarati News and Beyond, dated May 14, 2025. It featured a video of the same band’s performance from a different angle, stating, “Tiranga Yatra in Surat after the success of Operation Sindoor.” The description added that the procession was led by Union Minister CR Patil.
“With Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army had sent out a message to the world: Whoever dares to harm an Indian will get a befitting reply”, Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil said as he led the Tiranga Yatra in Surat, reported The Indian Express on May 15, 2025. Adding, “A highlight of the event was music bands of Saifee Scout Surat, which belongs to the Dawoodi Bohra community, seen leading the yatra from Bhagal crossroads.”
We were also able to geo-locate the spot seen in the viral clip in Gujarat’s Surat.
A video showing a massive tricolour being carried down a busy road, is going viral on social media claiming to show a scene from a pro-independence rally in Balochistan.

A reverse image search on the keyframes of the clip yielded an Instagram post by Lal Chowk Srinagar News (@lalchowk_srinagar), dated January 30, 2025. Carrying the visuals from the same procession, it stated, “Tiranga Rally from TRC Chowk to Lal Chowk, Srinagar, via Residency Road organised by ABVP Kashmir.”
A comparison between the keyframes of the viral clip and Instagram video can be seen below.
We then looked up keywords “ABVP,” “Srinagar” and “Tiranga Rally” on Google which led us to Instagram posts by Greater Kashmir (@greaterkashmirnews) and Rising Kashmir (@rising_kashmir) from January 30, 2025, carrying visuals from the same procession.
“Kashmiri members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), an affiliate of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Thursday held a ‘Tiranga rally’ at Lal Chowk, the historic city centre,” stated a report by The Hindu published on January 30, 2025.
“Holding a 50-ft. long tricolour, over two dozen ABVP supporters commenced the ‘Tiranga rally’ from the Tourist Reception Centre here,” it added.
We were also able to geo-locate the spot seen in the viral clip in Srinagar. The same can be seen here.
