Love Jihad: Video Showing Assault Of Bangladesh Schoolgirl Goes Viral With False Communal Spin

A 58-second video, showing a girl in a school uniform being ganged up on and assaulted by several other girls, is being widely shared on social media. Users sharing the video on X claimed that it showed Muslim girls trying to trap their Hindu classmate in a love jihad snare in West Bengal.

The same video is also being shared on Facebook.  

Fact Check/ Verification

A reverse image search of the keyframes of the viral video led us to a clearer footage of the same incident, which was posted on a Facebook profile named Mohammad Miraj on July 18, 2025.

The name of the school can be easily  identified from the uniform and reads as ‘Shaheed Muktijoddha Girls’ High School’.

We looked up the school name and found a page on Facebook. The logo on the Facebook page matched with the logo on the uniform.

According to the Facebook page, the school is located in the Pallabi area of Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

On probing more, we also found an X post by West Bengal police on July 28, 2025, clarifying that the viral claim is fake.

Newschecker also reached out to the principal of Shaheed Muktijoddha Girls’ High School who informed us that the incident was two years old and that there was no communal link to the incident. All the girls were from the Muslim community, she added.

Conclusion

Thus, our investigation into the viral video reveals that it is not from West Bengal, but from a school in Mirpur, Bangladesh, and that the video has no communal connection.
