Newschecker ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to this Times of Israel report, dated Mach 28, 2022, well before the June 13, 2025 escalation of the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, featuring a screengrab of the viral video.
According to the report, a verbal confrontation had occurred between far-right politician MK Itamar Ben Gvir, who is currently serving as the minister of national security, and the then interior security minister Omer Barlev, a member of the centre-left Israeli Labor Party, after both arrived at the scene of a terror attack in Hadera that claimed the lives of two border police officers. We learnt that on March 27, 2022, two police officers were killed in an attack by two Israeli Arab gunmen in the northern Israeli city of Hadera. The assailants were reportedly shot dead by counter-terrorism officers who happened to be at a restaurant nearby.
“Speaking to the press, Barlev said the incident was still ongoing and that police were scanning the area in order to make sure no accomplices were involved. Interrupting his comments, Ben Gvir shouted at the minister: “Stop it! You should be ashamed! You’re the worst minister… They took the most leftist person they could find and made him public security minister!” Barlev replied: “No, I’m not ashamed. You should be ashamed! You’re nothing!” as the verbal conflict escalated, with security forced to physically separate the two politicians,” read the report, sharing an X post, dated March 28, 2022, by national broadcaster Kan, which had another angle of the confrontation.
“Public Security Minister Bar-Lev began delivering a statement on the Hadera attack, but MK Ben-Gvir interrupted him,” read the Hebrew post. The viral excerpt can be heard from the 00:46 mark.
A clearer version of the viral video can be seen in this Facebook post by media outlet Israel Today, dated Mach 28, 2022. “MK Itamar Ben-Gvir interrupted the speech of public security minister Amar Bar-Lev at the scene of the attack in Hadera: ‘Shame on you. Talking about settler violence when Jews are murdered’,” read the Hebrew post, which further confirmed that the viral video is not related to the ongoing military escalations between Iran and Israel.
