Fact Check
Video of a Muslim family slaughtered by Bajrang Dal members in a UP village.
Old video from Pakistan shared in a false context.
A horrific video showing multiple dead bodies lying in a pool of blood is being widely shared on WhatsApp, with a voiceover claiming it to show a Muslim family brutally murdered by Bajrang Dal members in Mansoorpur village in Uttar Pradesh. The audio also claimed that such incidents have occurred in nearby areas as well, and urged the recipients to share the video and amplify it.
Newschecker’s investigation, however, revealed the claim to be false.
Newschecker received multiple requests on our WhatsApp tipline (+91-9999499044) to fact check the claim.

A keyword search for “Bajrang Dal” “Mansoorpur” and “Muslims” on Google did not yield any credible reports on the alleged incident. However, we found a report by Times Of India, dated July 21, 2025, stating that the Muzaffarnagar police arrested three men, Nadeem, Mansher, and Rahees, for allegedly circulating a video from Pakistan with an audio overlaid to falsely claim the killings Muslims in Mansoorpur and nearby areas by the Bajrang Dal workers.
DIG Saharanpur Abhishek Singh said, “During questioning, the accused admitted they wanted to spark communal riots. Their plan could have led to mob lynching or even a lone-wolf attack in the name of religion.” The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and the IT Act.
“In Muzaffarnagar district, a video of an incident that occurred in Muzaffargarh, Pakistan, in 2024, where a man killed his wife and seven children with an axe, was falsely circulated as being from Moradabad. It was shared on various WhatsApp groups with the claim that some members of Bajrang Dal entered the homes of Muslim community members and killed them,” the UP Police confirmed in a social media post.
We then looked up keywords “Pakistan,” “Muzaffargarh” and “Man kills seven children” on Google which led us to a report by the PTI, dated April 11, 2024. Detailing the incident, it stated “Sajjad Khokhar, a labourer by profession, attacked his wife Kausar, 42, and seven children — four daughters and three sons, aged between eight months and 10 years — with an axe killing them on the spot in Alipur, Muzaffargarh district.”
The accused was arrested, and confessed to the crime claiming that he had taken this extreme step as he could not feed his children any more, the report added. Police said the accused was “mentally disturbed” over financial issues and he often had quarrels with his wife.
Multiple Pakistan news outlets such as this, this and this also reported on the incident in April 2024.
Subsequent investigation led us to a Facebook post by Pakistan-based Abdul Samad, Alipur correspondent of Public News, dated April 11, 2024. It featured a Public News report on the incident, carrying snippets from the viral clip. A blurred version of the clip was also shared on YouTube by @Voiceoftodaypk in April 2024.
Hence, the viral claim, that a Muslim family was killed by Bajrang Dal members in Mansoorpur, was found to be false.
