A video, showing a woman helping a candidate cheat during a government examination by conveying answers through electronic devices from outside the centre in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur, has gone viral on social media platforms, with users giving communal spin to the incident.
The video is being widely shared on X and Facebook with the caption, “Burqa clad woman caught cheating with tech equipment at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh govt job exams. Fact Check/Verification
On analysing the viral clip, we noticed that the woman was not wearing a burqa, as claimed, but had draped a dupatta on her face.
A reverse image search on the keyframes of viral video led us to a report by ETV Bharat, dated July 14, 2025. Carrying the same footage, it stated that two sisters were caught cheating during a sub engineer recruitment examination in Bilaspur’s Sarkanda. While one of them was taking the examination, the other, who was sitting in an auto outside the centre, was using electronic devices to get in touch with her, the report stated.
It came to light when the NSUI members, who were informed about a woman sitting in the auto, questioned her.

Detailing the incident, a report by the Hindustan Times stated that Annu Surya hid a camera inside her clothes, and used it to send out images of the question paper to her sister Anuradha. She then looked for the answers online and shared them with Annu via a walkie-talkie connected to a micro-earpiece worn by her.

“Police said seven electronic devices, including a secret camera hidden in Annu’s clothing, a microphone, a Bluetooth device, walkie-talkies, a tablet, and mobile phones, were seized from the two sisters,” it added.

The Bilaspur police, too, detailed the cheating incident uncovered during the VYAPAM recruitment examination at Ramdulare Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Sarkanda on July 13, 2025.
The accused sisters, daughter of one Kaleshwar Ram, resident of village Kuparkapa, Jashpur, were arrested and a case was filed against them under sections 318(2), 112(2), and 61(2) of the BNS, section 72 of the Information Technology Act among others.
Newschecker also reached out to Inspector Nilesh Pandey, in-charge of the Sarkanda Police Station, who refuted the viral claim and confirmed that the accused in the case were Hindus.
