Fact
A reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral video led us to a report by Aaj Tak, dated July 22, 2025. It featured the same footage and elaborated on an incident in Maharashtra’s Satara where a youth, identified as Aryan Waghmale, held a minor girl at knifepoint and was later beaten up by the onlookers.
A case was filed against Waghmale at the Shahupuri police station under POCSO Act, molestation, intentional injury and Arms Act, the report stated, and added that the incident stemmed from “one-sided love.” The report does not mention that the youth was killed by the onlookers.

Carrying a screengrab from the viral clip, a report by Marathi news outlet Tarun Bharat, dated July 22, 2025, corroborated that the incident happened in Satara and identified the accused as Aryan Waghmale.
Detailing the incident, a report by Hindustan Times stated, “According to the police, accused, identified as Aryan Waghmale, accosted the girl on her way home from school, threatened her at knife point, and tried to keep locals at bay by waving the weapon at them at around 3.30pm in Basappa Peth Karanje area. Some bystanders, with the help of two off-duty police personnel who happened to be nearby, intervened to stop the attack.” It added that the accused was taken into custody.
Newschecker then reached out to Inspector SG Mhatre of the Shahupuri Police Station who confirmed that there was no communal angle to the incident.
