- A reverse image search traced the viral frame to a March 24, 2025 report by Nepali outlet The Diplomat. The same photo appeared there, confirming it was from a pro-monarchy gathering in Kathmandu, not the Gen-Z protest.
- The rally was held to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah and demand the restoration of monarchy.
- Bishnu Rimal, advisor to ex-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, also shared the photo on social media at the time.
- Nepali outlet Ratopati reported that several groups, including the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, participated in the rally outside Tribhuvan International Airport, where supporters displayed portraits of both Shah and Yogi Adityanath. The incident, which drew significant attention over Adityanath’s photo being displayed, was after Shah’s visit to Gorakhpur, where he met Adityanath on January 30.
