Video shows massive fire at Adampur Air Base after an oil tanker was struck by an unexploded munition that hit the site during India-Pakistan conflict in May 2025.
Visuals from a collision between an LGP tanker and a pick up truck in Punjab’s Mandiala village.
A 17-second-long-video, allegedly showing a massive blaze engulfing the Adampur Air Base in Punjab, has gone viral on social media platforms, with users claiming that the purported fire was triggered after an oil tanker blew up on being hit by “unexploded munition from May 2025 war with Pakistan.”
Newschecker investigated the viral claim, and found it to be fabricated.
Such posts can be found here, here and here.
We looked up keywords “Adampur,” “Air Base” and “explosion” on Google but did not find any credible report/ official release on the alleged incident.
On carefully analysing the viral footage, we found it to be a compilation of two clips.
A Google Lens search on the first segment of the viral clip directed us to a recent report by Dainik Bhaskar, detailing a fire incident in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur following a collision between a LPG tanker and a mini truck.
Subsequent investigation led us to an X post by news agency ANI, dated August 23, 2025, detailing the above mentioned accident in Mandiala village of Hoshiarpur in Punjab. It featured the visuals similar to the second segment of the viral clip.
After comparing the two visuals, we could conclude that they depicted the same incident.
A video report from The New Indian Express, too, carried the same visuals to show the recent incident in Punjab.
At least seven people were killed and multiple others were injured after an LPG tanker caught fire after colliding with a pickup vehicle near Mandiala Adda on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road on Friday (August 22, 2025). “According to the police FIR, the tanker was turning towards the Ram Nagar Dheha link road when it collided with the vegetable-laden pickup. Both vehicles caught fire,” reported PTI.
A case was filed against the tanker driver under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 324(4) (causing wrongful loss to property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Multiple other outlets such as this, this and this reported on the incident.
Hence, the viral posts alleging to show a fire at Adampur Air Base were found to be false and baseless. The video actually shows the aftermath of an accident in Mandiala village in Punjab.
