Video shows Rahul Gandhi’s photo affixed on sanitary napkins distributed by the Congress in Bihar.
The video was created by a comedian. No such photo on the actual product.
A video allegedly showing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s photo affixed on sanitary napkins, that are being distributed by the party in Bihar ahead of the state elections, has created ruckus on social media platforms, inviting strong criticism from multiple users.
The footage purportedly showing a person unfolding a sanitary napkin to reveal Gandhi’s photo is being widely circulated online. Newschecker, however, found the same to be untrue.

We found multiple X users pointing out that the viral clip was actually created by one ‘Ratan Ranjan.’
Taking a clue, we skimmed through the X profile of Ranjan (@RatanRanjan_) but did not spot the now-viral footage. However, we came across a video showing him admitting that the viral clip, allegedly showing Rahul Gandhi’s photo on sanitary napkins, was made by him.
Further investigation led us to an archived version of an X post by Ranjan, dated July 5, 2025, featuring the same video. The post has since been deleted.
Newschecker reached out to Ranjan, who clarified that he created the video as a piece of political satire. He added that the Congress did not distribute the sanitary napkin packet shown in the video. Instead, he purchased it himself, affixed a poster of Congress’ ‘Mai Behen Maan Yojana’ to it, and a photo of Rahul Gandhi on the sanitary napkin.
We also contacted Congress leader Alka Lamba, who denied the viral claim, stating that while the packet features Rahul Gandhi’s photo, the sanitary pads inside do not. She also shared a video of a female Congress worker packing the sanitary pads. The packet seen in this video was visibly different from the one shown in the viral clip. Although it displayed Rahul Gandhi’s image on the outside cover, the pads inside did not carry any such photos.
We further found out that the sanitary pad seen in the viral video is a product of Whisper. Ranjan too confirmed the same.
Notably, the pads distributed under the Congress’ scheme are not from any commercial brand. Lamba said that the sanitary pads distributed under the ‘Mai Behen Maan Yojana’ in Bihar are being produced in the Begusarai and Vaishali districts by the party itself without any involvement from major brands.
Newschecker obtained one such sanitary pad kit from the Congress’ Delhi office. It’s cover featured images of Rahul Gandhi on one side and Priyanka Gandhi on the other. It also displays the name of the scheme along with a contact phone number. The kit contained five sanitary napkins, none of which featured any image.

Newschecker also reached out to multiple beneficiaries of the scheme and the copy will be updated upon receiving a response from them.

Hence, we find that the viral posts, claiming to show Rahul Gandhi’s photo on sanitary napkins that are being distributed by the Congress in Bihar, are false.
