UK Minister’s Images Falsely Shared As Israeli Soldier Who Died By Suicide

Viral photo claiming to be of Israeli soldier who died by suicide.

The archived version of the post can be seen here, which has clocked 251.2K views so far. The posts have gone viral amid reports of a string of suicides among Israeli soldiers over less than two weeks, sparking concerns over the military’s mental health system since the war on Gaza began.

Newschecker ran a reverse image search, which led us to this September 14, 2018 X post by Wes Streeting, a Labour Party MP who has been serving as UK’s health secretary since July 2024. We can clearly see that one of the viral photos was cropped.

Newschecker looked up Streeting’s photo on the official website of the UK parliament, which further confirmed that the viral photos are being shared with a false claim.
