Video From Bangladesh Shared As Muslim Man Burying Wife Alive In Karnataka

A Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral video led us to a Facebook post by user Nourin Mim, dated August 9, 2025. It featured the same clip, stating that the incident was from a location adjacent to Kanipara Bazar of 3 no. Kakilakura Union of Sribardi Upazila of Sherpur in Bangladesh.

Taking a clue, we looked up keywords “Sherpur,” “man buries wife” in Bengali on Google which yielded multiple Bangladesh-based reports on the incident. One such report by Dhaka Prokash 24 published on August 9, 2025, featured the viral clip and identified the man as Md Khalilur Rahman. It stated that Rahman dragged his paralysed wife, Khosheda Begum, into the courtyard and attempted to bury her alive. The report also confirmed that the incident took place in Sherpur’s Sribardi Upazila.

Sribardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Anwar Zahid said that police personnel went to the location after learning about the incident, but locals had resolved the matter socially. He added that a legal action will be taken if a written complaint is received, reported Daily Ittefaq.

Hence, the post, claiming that an Muslim man tried to bury his wife alive in Karnataka to marry his sister, was found to be false.
