Video From Delhi Apartment Fire Shared As ‘New Visuals’ Of Plane Crash In Ahmedabad

Video shows the top floors of a building engulfed in fire after the fatal Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.

Air India Plane Rams Into College Hostel

The London-bound Air India flight rammed into the hostel of BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad shortly after the takeoff on June 12, 2025. Along with 241 people onboard the aircraft, at least five MBBS students at the medical college, one PG resident and the wife of a specialist doctor at the institute were also killed in the accident. 

A Goggle Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip led us to a Reddit post by @Patient_Resist_8349, dated June 10, 2025. It featured the same video of a multi-storey building on fire, and identified it to be the Shabad apartment in Dwarka, Delhi, confirming that the footage predates the June 12 plane crash in Ahmedabad. 

Taking a clue, we looked up “Shabad apartments” and “fire” on Google which led us to a Facebook post by Hindustan Times, dated June 10, 2025, showing the upper portion of the same building engulfed in flames. “A major fire broke out on the top floor of the Shabad Apartment complex in Dwarka Sector 13, triggering panic among residents,” the post stated.

A YouTube video by The Indian Express also displayed the same building, and corroborated that it shows fire at a residential complex in Delhi’s Dwarka on June 10, 2025.

A man and his two children  died after jumping from their balcony to escape the fire that broke out at the residential building in Delhi’s Dwarka on June 10, 2025. Multiple outlets such as this, this and this reported on the same.

Hence, we find that a video showing a fire at an apartment complex in Delhi has been falsely linked to the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
