A reverse image search of the video’s keyframes led to a Facebook post dated August 14, 2025, by an Indonesian user, who stated that the footage was from protests in Pati, Central Java. Another Facebook post from August 13, 2025, corroborated that the video is from Indonesia’s Pati.
Supporting this, a report by Zonasatu.net on August 13, 2025, featured an image from the same location and noted that a protest at Simpang Lima Square in Pati escalated into a confrontation between demonstrators and police.
Tribunmuria.com detailed the incident, reporting that “a demonstration by tens of thousands of people at Pati Square on Wednesday (August 13) ended in chaos. Protesters demanding the resignation of Pati Regent Sudewo clashed with security forces at the Pati Regency Hall.” The report added that the unrest stemmed from the Regent’s decision to increase the Land and Building Tax (PBB) by 250%.
