Fact Check: Viral Cash Seizure Image Falsely Linked to BJP MP

Evidence

• A Tribune report (Aug 24, 2025) carried the same photo, captioned: “Cash seized by the ED during searches in an alleged illegal betting case against Karnataka Congress MLA KC Veerendra and others.”

• Hindustan Times (Aug 23, 2025) reported that ED recovered ₹12 crore in cash, ₹1 crore in foreign currency, gold jewellery worth ₹6 crore, four luxury vehicles & casino cards
  
• An official ED press release confirmed that searches were conducted at 31 locations across India, including five casinos. The viral image was included in their documentation.
  
• Outlets such as Indian Express, The Hindu, and Times of India also confirmed KC Veerendra’s arrest.

Verdict

The viral photo of cash piles is misattributed. It shows cash recovered from Congress MLA KC Veerendra, not from a BJP MP.
