An explosion at Iran’s Fordow nuclear site after US bombings.
Archive link of the post can be seen here.
We used the InVid tool to split the video into keyframes and conducted a reverse image search on them which took us to several posts on YouTube carrying the same video.
One such post, by handle @EverythingAplenty, on 18 September 2024 carried the same video, identifying it as from an ammunition depot in Russia’s Tver region.
Using this as a lead, we conducted a keyword search on Google which took us to several reports carrying keyframes from the same video.
One such report by the New York Times, on September 18, 2025, carrying a screengrab from the same video, read, “Russia Seizes Eastern Town as Ukraine Hits Big Ammunition Depot.” The report revealed that the incident was from a Ukrainian drone strike at a major Russian military depot and weapons store which triggered an earthquake-sized explosion.
A report by The Independent also carried similar information in its report, dated September 18, 2025, and further said, “Kyiv claimed its attack destroyed military warehouses in Toropets, a town in Russia’s Tver region about 240 miles northwest of Moscow and about 300 miles from the border with Ukraine. It was carried out by Ukraine’s Security Service, along with Ukraine’s Intelligence and Special Operations Forces. A senior Kyiv official said the depot housed Iskander and Tochka-U missiles, as well as glide bombs and artillery shells. He said the facility caught fire in the strike and was burning across an area four miles wide.”
Similar reports were published by CNN, and The Straits Times.
Thus, we find that the viral video claiming to show the explosion at the Iranian nuclear facility in Fordow after US bombings is old and unrelated to the recent conflict.
